gifted & talented
Gifted pupils are identified on entering the school by means of reaching a certain standard in a specially designed test. Their progress is carefully monitored and they are given opportunities to reach their full potential either through the setting arrangements that exist in many subjects or by means of differentiation in mixed ability classes. Enrichment activities include attendance at masterclasses, theatre trips, UK Maths challenge entry and the like.
Talented pupils are those who have a gift in an area not necessarily specifically taught. They are usually identified by their Junior School but can often be brought to light through recommendation outside school. Those able at sport are given a huge range of opportunities through competition in house and school events and representation at county or even National level. Those talented in the Arts are enriched by Drama productions and wide-ranging musical outlets.
It is our aim at Glyn that Gifted and Talented pupils, along with all other pupils, are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
