Pastoral behaviour management
The school recognises that good pastoral support is essential to the academic and personal development of every student at Glyn. All students need guidance and support as they grow up and develop during their time at the school. With this in mind the school has put in place a series of measures to ensure that students receive the pastoral support they need to succeed at Glyn.
Pastoral Care at Glyn begins with every Form Tutor and classroom teacher and extends all the way through the school in many other forms.
Tutors are the main point of contact for most issues and Heads of House work closely with Tutors, students and parents to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
The school is fortunate to have its own Pastoral Support Team who assist in managing many of the daily pastoral events.
The school also works closely with the County-based support services to provide support for students and families in a range of areas.
In addition to this the school also employs the PEAT service to provide group and individual support to students who are experiencing difficulties. The Valley Trust Counselling Service completes the range of pastoral support services available to students at the school.
An extensive system of rewards and House competitions encourage participation and achievement and a thorough system of structured interventions exist for those students who need support to meet the school’s high expectations of effort and conduct.
